AAU Summer Preview
Well, sports fans, summer 2013 is FINALLY here! The AAU is thrilled to announce that this summer, more than eight thousand teams will be competing in various sports around the central Florida area. Nearly 50,000 athletes will compete to claim the crown in their respective sport.
The summer kicks off with the AAU gymnastics nationals! The event starts June 13 and will attract more than 12 hundred athletes to the Central Florida area. ESPN Wide World of Sports hosts the tournament until it wraps up on Father’s Day, June 16. Make sure to hash tag your tweets and Instagram photos with #AAUGymNationals.
Immediately following gymnastics, AAU baseball will be in full swing with Baseball Nationals for 9U and 10U on June 17. The tournament will take place at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports and continue until the 22nd. During that week, we’ll bring you even more baseball with the 14U and Underclassmen Baseball Super Showcase. Participants in this event are by invitation only, so be prepared to watch the best of the best compete. But wait, there’s even MORE. In the midst of all this baseball, let’s not forget the 40th annual AAU Junior Girls Volleyball Nationals! The AAU is hoping for an even bigger turnout than last year, when this event broke the Guinness World Record for the largest volleyball tournament. This year, more than 19 hundred teams are travelling from all over the country, totaling over 20,000 athletes. The girls’ volleyball action starts June 19 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex and the Orange County Convention Center and continues the whole week, ending on the 26th. Boys’ volleyball will start June 20 at the Orlando Sports Center and will end on the 23rd. While you’re at the events, be sure to visit our social center. Around 500 athletes will travel to Central Florida and compete at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in multiple track and field events. For the AAU Track Primary you can Tweet, Facebook, or Instagram us with the #AAUPrimaryNatls.
Right after the primary nationals end, the AAU Track and Field Club Nationals begin! Club nationals will host around four thousand participants in multiple events over a week span.
