|The 2006 AAU Junior Olympic Games have officially begun. Girls' Basketball and Dance started off this annual event yesterday. Three area teams are involved in the 15 and under tournament starting at Indian River High School (Chesapeake) and Nansemond River High School (Suffolk). The Peninsula Wolfpack will face the Portsmouth Starts in the 9 am opener at Nansemond River, while Boo Williams Summer League Blue faces Maryland Triple Threatt at 10:30 am at Indian River.TRAMPOLINE AND TUMBLING
Preliminary action took place on Friday at the Hampton Coliseum with finals in selected events to be held Saturday morning. Action took place with entrants ranging in age from 4-17 and ability from beginner to advanced from solos to synchronized team.BASEBALL
The 12 and under tournament is starting with 26 teams on Saturday at Stoney Run Complex in Newport News, while the 16 and under starts at ten sites throughout southside Hampton Roads with 36 teams.GIRLS BASKETBALL
Boo Williams Summer League Norfolk Express took on the Oklahoma Stars in a late contest on Friday night for the top spot in Pool A as both teams were 2-0 heading into the contest.CLOGGING
The Suffolk based Peanut City Cloggers earned ten gold, three silvers and one bronze medals on Friday in the competition held at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk.
