Sport Stacking to make debut at AAU JO Games
Lake Buena Vista– The Amateur Athletic Union is excited to announce a new sport, Sport Stacking. That’s right folks, you heard correctly, Sport Stacking will be added to the variety of sports offered by the AAU! Sport Stacking is an exciting individual and team sport where participants stack and unstack specifically designed cups (Speed Stacks) in predetermined sequences for fastest times and in head-to-head relay events. We will be showcasing our first event at this year’s AAU Junior Olympic Games in Houston, Texas. The George R. Brown Convention Center will be the host site for an exciting three days of competition.
“The AAU is thrilled to have sport stacking as part of the games this year,” said Paul Campbell, AAU Junior Olympic Games Chair. “It is a new, unique and fun sport to bring to the games and offer to our members!”
The AAU will be pairing up with the World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) to get this event going. Athletes must receive a qualification invitation letter in order to participate.
“It’s an exciting advancement for sport stacking to be included as part of the AAU Junior Olympic Games and a tremendous opportunity for top stackers to compete,” said Bob Fox, WSSA Executive Director.
The question is, can you sport stack? You have to be quick with steady hands!
